The idea of being is basically
a crossing over from the idea of separation where we have
an artist that stands outside and creates a separate work
which we call “art”, which could be a painting,
sculpture, etc… , to actually in some way entering
into and becoming one with the created and the creative
process.
The creator, the action of creation and
created object actually becomes one whole ritual. We can
actually think of the created object then as more of a recording
of this ritual. This then is more the way music works.
My work has always been heavily connected
with music and influenced by music. I listen to music while
I create and I am driven by the music and it really becomes
an essential part of what I am doing. I think that My art
more like music than painting. Painting is just a term for
the physical medium that I employ. I think of the like songs,
compositions of energy, rhythm tomes, vibrations, and silence.
Like music my paintings have certain solidarity to them.
They rely on nothing else to exist. Painting historically
has its roots in pure representation whereas music flows
from pure sound.
